privacy policy
who we are
“space of my own” (“SOMO”, “we”, “us”) operates the website at spaceofmyown.com. Questions about this policy or your data: [email protected].
what we collect
- Account basics. When you sign in with Google we receive your email address and your Google account identifier. We use these to create and secure your account. New accounts have no password — Google is the key.
- What you build. The things you choose to put in your space — photos, video clips, music selections, text, room designs — are stored so we can render your space. They are yours.
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you give us, and use it only to invite you.
- Technical basics. A session cookie (“tnms_session”) keeps you signed in. IP addresses pass through short-lived rate-limit logs to prevent abuse. That is the extent of it — we run no third-party analytics and no advertising trackers.
google user data
Signing in with Google shares only your email address and account identifier with us. Separately — and optionally — you can connect your YouTube account to help furnish your space with music and videos you already love.
If you connect YouTube, we request read-only access (the youtube.readonly scope). We use it to show you your own liked videos, playlists, and subscriptions inside SOMO so you can pick what belongs in your space. We cannot post, edit, or delete anything on your YouTube account with this access.
What we actually store from YouTube is deliberately small:
- a token that keeps your connection alive until you disconnect;
- your channel name and thumbnail (shown in your settings); and
- the individual videos you explicitly choose to place in your space.
Everything else (your likes, playlists, subscriptions) is fetched live when you browse it and is not copied into our database. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and no humans read it except as needed for security, to comply with law, or with your explicit consent.
SOMO’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
youtube api services
SOMO uses YouTube API Services to provide the YouTube features described above. By connecting your YouTube account you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
You can disconnect YouTube at any time from your SOMO settings — doing so deletes our stored token and revokes our access at Google — or revoke SOMO’s access directly from your Google security settings.
how we use your information
To run the service: render your space, sign you in, show your choices to the people you share them with, and keep the platform safe. That is the whole list. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not profile you across other websites.
when we share
With no one, except: infrastructure providers that carry the site to you (for example Cloudflare, our network provider), when the law genuinely requires it, or to protect the safety of the platform and its people. Never for money.
retention and deletion
Your content stays as long as you keep it in your space. Delete something and it’s deleted — removed items are wiped from our database and storage, not archived. If you delete your account, or email us asking for deletion, we remove your account data and content. Disconnecting YouTube deletes the stored token and the channel info immediately.
age
SOMO is for adults — you must be 18 or older to have an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we close the account and delete its data promptly. If you believe a minor has an account, tell us: [email protected].
changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so on this page with a new effective date. We will never quietly change it to start doing something this page says we don’t do.
